Larry
     Susan Auyang and Larry Rubenstein

William Andrews Clark Society members Larry Rubenstein and Susan Auyang have been music lovers their whole lives. In Larry’s native Ohio, he grew up playing piano and took lessons at the Cleveland Institute of Music. About 15 years ago, he added the violin as his second instrument.

When he relocated to Los Angeles in his youth, Rubenstein brought his love of music with him and became a regular concertgoer here in LA. “The LA Phil is an outstanding orchestra, and I really enjoy the music, and it’s a great organization to support.”

A committed philanthropist for the arts, Rubenstein supports musical organizations across the city. The LA Phil is tremendously grateful that he chose to name our institution as a beneficiary of his estate.

But Rubenstein has recently gone even further in his support by making a gift to the LA Phil from his IRA.

“I think the very best thing to do is to donate from your IRA,” he said. “You’re allowed to donate up to $100,000 every year as a qualified charitable distribution. One of the advantages is that instead of that money going to taxes, it goes directly to a good cause. I like that very much.”

Rubenstein’s philanthropic support—both today and into the future—will help the LA Phil fulfill Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel’s vision of an orchestra that touches the lives of all Southern Californians.
