     Vikki Sung

Donor, Affiliate Committee co-founder, volunteer, President of the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts (PSHA), and Clark Society member—Vikki Sung has done so much to help the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association bring music to millions across Southern California.

Sung’s first introduction to the LA Phil was in the 2008–2009 school year, when she chaperoned her son’s fourth grade class to a youth concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

“My husband and I have come to really love the LA Phil,” Sung said. “We have had the opportunity to meet so many musicians who are like rock stars to us. [Principal Horn] Andrew Bain is funny and self-effacing, and it’s so refreshing, because typically you think of classic music as being very serious.”

Since she began volunteering, Sung has co-founded a new Affiliate Committee in San Marino, volunteered at events like YOLA National, the Instrument Petting Zoo, and subscriber appreciation day, and most recently became a William Andrews Clark Society member.

“I am putting the LA Phil as the beneficiary of my 401(k),” Sung said. “It is money that is just sitting there growing, my kids are fine without it, and so we are going to put 100% to the LA Phil.”

The LA Phil is deeply grateful for her incredible generosity in so many ways. The dedication of champions like her have ensured the LA Phil will continue to make great music widely available, today and always.
